French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron have officially filed a major defamation lawsuit against U.S. conservative commentator Candace Owens.
The lawsuit filed in Delaware Superior Court lists 22 separate allegations, claiming that Owens spread false, damaging rumors, including the widely debunked claim that Brigitte Macron was born male.
The 219-page complaint includes personal documents, birth announcements, and photographs to prove Brigitte’s identity, asserting she has “always been a woman.”
Despite multiple warnings to retract the statements, Owens not only refused but doubled down, continuing to spread the claims online, while mocking the Macrons and monetizing the conspiracy.
In response, Owens insists this is an attack on her free speech, saying she will fight the lawsuit and use it to raise funds.
Legal experts say this case could become a landmark battle between international defamation law and U.S. First Amendment protections.
📌 Will this lawsuit silence misinformation, or spark a global legal showdown over speech rights?
